Faculty Engagement: Make Online Teaching Fun For All

Continuing the Conversation with Melinda Stanley

The first webinar in the IU Online Continuing the Conversation series is with Melinda Stanley from IU Kokomo. During this webinar, Melinda will share her engagement techniques used in her online courses to increase interaction between her students. This includes VoiceThread, multi-course announcements, and virtual field trips. She will share how VoiceThread is used to create effective online lecture presentations open to student feedback along with a demo of how to incorporate this tool into your course. Melinda will also talk about the importance of course announcements and what makes this communication tool effective for students.

About the presenter

Melinda Stanley, M.P.M, is a Lecturer in Health Care Management at IU Kokomo. Melinda has a long history with Indiana University Kokomo. She has worked for the Kokomo Sports Center when she began to teach the HPER-E exercise classes for the university in 2005 and oversaw the program. In 2012, Melinda earned a Masters in Public Management at IU Kokomo and was asked to join the board of directors of the Alumni Association that year. She began teaching classes for the Allied Health Sciences department as adjunct faculty in 2014 and was hired as a full-time lecturer in 2015 to help teach courses in the health care management track of the Bachelor of Applied Sciences.
