IU ONLINE 2022
HIGHLIGHTS
Higher education is always in motion. Whatever the change, IU Online’s core principle holds.
STUDENTS COME FIRST
Meeting students where they are
“It’s really, really flexible, and really, really, accessible and the professors are still really attentive and that meant a lot to me.”
Online education makes learning more accessible.
More programs plus more ways to learn equals more students reaching goals.
The proof is in the numbers.
220 online programs:
8,353 students in online programs
46,032 students taking one or more classes online, or 51 percent of university total headcount
11,647 students taking all classes online, or 13 percent of university total headcount
Pathways for all
Greater variety of offerings and credentials expand students’ opportunities.
Programs are available at all levels.

IU Expand offers even more credentials.
Online noncredit, continuing ed, and professional development coursework for students, faculty, and the public.
[Video of remarks by Jeffrey Perotti, MS, OD, Associate Dean for Fiscal Affairs, School of Optometry.]
“In the past year we’ve been approached by two corporate partners who have been looking to offer a free continuing education benefit to their associated doctors. Each of those corporate partners is associated with over one thousand practicing doctors of optometry.
And so what we did for each of them is we created a sub-library of continuing education. And then using Expand we were able to automatically enroll all of those doctors into the program and then register them in each of the courses. As a result, these doctors have been able to easily access continuing education by simply logging into the platform, finding the course they want to take, and then completing the course content.
The benefit of this is that we’ve offered over sixteen-hundred hours of continuing education to these doctors, which basically is a huge success for these corporations, for their doctors, and for the Indiana University School of Optometry.”
In FY 2022, IU Expand saw:
IU Expand total net revenue (all time): $686,886.
New modalities widen opportunity.
Multimodal synchronous courses blend in-person, distance video, and fully online modalities.
“IU Online fits all kinds of learning styles. Not every student learns in the same way. Some are visual learners, some are writers, others take tests well, others are auditory learners. The variety of assignments at IU Online helped me as a learner.” —Tracy Dawson, BS Psychology 2019
Getting students where they need to go
New service initiatives streamline the student experience. Students get services quickly and easily.
New Go Team
The Guided Onboarding Team serves as a one-stop shop, connecting students to all services.
“We prioritize meeting you where you are. Whether you need guidance after receiving your admissions decision or throughout your first year, your Go Team is just an email, call, or text away.”–Kayla Scroggins IU Online Go Team
Success Coaching
Coming under the IU Online umbrella means more targeted service as all-in-one resource to students from year two through graduation.
Graduate Advising
Academic advisors will provide wraparound services to students in online graduate collaborative programs, assisting them from admission to graduation.
