The May 2021 commencement report shows that 1,938 online degrees were awarded, representing 9.4 percent of all IU degrees and an 8.8 percent increase over the number of online degrees awarded in May 2020. Online graduates represented 49 US states and 25 distinct countries. While the average age of graduates was 26, ages ranged from 19 to 62. Twenty-five percent of the total were first-generation college goers.

Online degrees accounted for 18.8 percent of all IU graduate degrees and 5.7 percent of all undergraduate degrees. The undergraduate programs with the largest number of graduates were the BS in Business Administration (181), BGS in General Studies (158), and RN to BSN (125). The graduate programs with the largest number of graduates were the MBA in Business Administration (445), MSW in Social Work (105), and MLIS in Library and Information Science (96).
