Indiana University Online scored high in the annual U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) rankings of online education programs. Already a leader in online education, IU remains in the top 50 (out of 1,500 institutions included in the 2018 rankings) for its undergraduate programs and for several of its graduate programs.
USNWR is considered a global authority in ranking educational programs, so these scores can play a role when students look for online programs that align with their interests and goals. Anita Narayan, U.S. News managing editor of education, says, "The Best Online Programs rankings offer adults the information needed to identify programs that best suit their life and career goals. The top programs not only demonstrate strong academics but also create learning environments that are particularly well suited to remote students."
U.S. News updated methodologies for the 2018 rankings. Reflecting the national concern for high levels of student loan indebtedness, U.S. News rewarded programs whose students graduate with relatively lower levels of debt. IU Online is alert to this concern, and offers all online students expert, personalized financial aid counseling, including financial planning and strategies for loan repayment.
